Bartholomew Bacak, M.D., Ph.D., is an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck surgeon. Dr. Bacak earned his Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with honors. He completed the M.D./ Ph.D. program at Drexel University. His Ph.D. is in Biomedical Engineering and his thesis addressed how the brain regulates breathing.
Dr. Bacak completed his internship and residency training in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Rochester in 2023. Throughout his training Dr. Bacak has published numerous articles on topics including neuroscience, otolaryngology, and hiccupping.
Dr. Bacak is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He provides services in all facets of otolaryngology and has a particular interest in sleep apnea (including surgical placement of hypoglossal nerve stimulators, i.e. the Inspire implant) and management of diseases of the paranasal sinuses, salivary glands, and the thyroid gland.
Dr. Bacak lives in Philadelphia with his wife Michelle, who is a pediatrician, and his daughter Nora. Dr. Bacak grew up in Bethlehem, PA and spent most of his adult life living in center city Philadelphia. He is excited to have returned to the area and loves to explore the city with his family. In his free time, Dr. Bacak enjoys playing tennis and ping-pong, snowboarding, and fishing. He is also an avid foodie and maintains that he would have went to culinary school if he didn’t pursue medicine.
